Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night on HIDIVE
That’s exciting news for anime fans! “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night” is a title that will likely pique the interest of many. HIDIVE has been known for streaming a variety of anime titles, so it’s great to see them adding another one to their lineup. The initial airing of the opening two episodes of “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night” is scheduled for Anime Boston 2024, set to occur on March 29th.
On Monday, HIDIVE announced that it would be streaming Doga Kobo’s original television anime series, “Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night” (Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai), for the spring 2024 season. The company will present the North American premiere of the anime’s first two episodes at Anime Boston 2024 on March 29th.
The anime is scheduled to debut on April 6th on the TOKYO MX and BS11 channels at 25:00 JST (which effectively translates to April 7th at 1:00 a.m. JST, or April 6th at 12:00 p.m. EDT). Following this, it will air on Kansai TV and AT-X channels on April 7th, and on HTB Hokkaido TV on April 8th, with plans for additional venues. This anime marks the 50th anniversary of Doga Kobo.

The narrative follows a group of girls immersed in creativity set against the backdrop of Shibuya. JELEE receives credit for the original concept, with Ryohei Takeshita (known for “Eromanga Sensei”) directing the series at Doga Kobo. The original character designs are by popman3580, with Junichirō Taniguchi (known for “Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story” and “Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru”) adapting them for animation. Yūki Yaku (author of the “Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki” light novel series) is in charge of writing and overseeing the series scripts.
KanoeRana lends their voice to the anime’s opening theme song titled “Irodori” (coloring), while female singer Anna Tsurushima performs the ending theme song “Ichi-nichi wa 25-jikan” (A Day Is 25 Hours). Musician 40mP produces an insert song for the anonymous artist “JELEE” within the anime’s narrative. Pop pianist and YouTuber Haramichan is responsible for the piano performances featured in the series.
