Solo Leveling, a popular fantasy South Korean web novel by Chugong and licensed by Yen Press, has not only inspired a webtoon adaptation but also a recently premiered anime translation, further boosting its popularity. Adding to the excitement, there are reports of a Solo Leveling live-action K-drama in development.
As anime fever continues to sweep the internet, Solo Leveling’s voice cast includes Taito Ban as Jinwoo, Genta Nakamura as Yoo Jin Ho, Reina Ueda as Cha Hae In, Daisuke Hirakawa as Choi Jong In, and more. Shunsuke Nakashige directs, Noboru Kimura heads the writing, and Tomoko Sudo oversees character design, bringing the story to life on our screens.
A-1 Pictures powers the anime, which follows the story of Jinwoo Sung, an E-rank hunter known as the ‘Weakest Hunter of All Mankind.’ His life seems stuck in a rut, dealing with hospital bills for his mother, his sister’s tuition, and the threat of unemployment. Jinwoo decides to take a gamble with his life.
Season 1 aired from January 7 to March 30, consisting of 12 episodes. It became one of the year’s top anime, covering seven arcs and concluding with the Job Change Quest arc. Fans are speculating if the next storyline will cover the Red Gate arc.
